Over the past four years, the Franklin Middle School Track team has grown as a program. The team has placed 1st or 2nd in city championships and recently began competing in track events outside of the Richmond area.

The group said as the program grew, it was difficult to keep up financially. Transportation costs are expensive, and students don't have uniforms to wear to competitions - the previous uniforms were made of metal prints that eventually fell apart within weeks of the team's first competition.

The team is hoping to finally get a uniform to wear in competition instead of a mismatched black shirt. The team would also like to be able to participate in qualifying events, which is not currently the case.

Franklin Military track said it needed financial resources to establish a bank to help reduce the growing costs of the track team (most of which the head coach personally funded from his coach's salary)."

In addition, the group is looking to purchase startup blocks and disks to allow the group's other programs to grow.

Once the team account has an established financial base, the team can also finance fundraisers such as selling t-shirts, which is difficult for us to do without initial funding to reduce sales costs.

Franklin Military states that once a team has a base of funds established in their team account, they can fund fundraisers such as t-shirt sales.

Franklin Military is asking everyone to help by donating a few dollars to help build the funding base that will allow the team to compete and grow!
